Ted Olson Humanitarian Award: Rod Brown, CAS, founder and retired CFO of distributor MadeToOrder who won the award in 2020 and Bob Waldorf, CAS, founder of Waldorf Marketing Group, our 2021 recipient. Our moderator is Tina Berres Filipski, director of publications and editor at PPAI.
In this inspiring 33-minute conversation, Rod and Bob talk about the organizations they support, how and why they got involved and how their lives have been given new meaning through their connections with those groups.
Rod Brown, CAS, founder and retired CFO of distributor MadeToOrder, is also a founding member of Reciprocity Road, a distributor buying group with a philanthropic focus. For more than a decade, Brown has traveled to Tijuana, Mexico, with his church to build basic housing for families in need. He also raises money to support the Chilanga School for the Blind in Malawi, Africa, and has made a half-dozen trips there to donate blood and to deliver pens, backpacks, soccer balls, hats and other promotional products and supplies.
Bob Waldorf, CAS, founder of Waldorf Marketing Group, is a 60-plus-year volunteer with Jewish Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Los Angeles. For decades, he has also supported an LA-area nonprofit, overnight camp that was renamed Camp Bob Waldorf in 2015.
