Product Responsibility Summit 2018: CA Prop 65 Is Here. Are You Ready?

The new regulations are effective September 2018. Are you prepared for your company’s next move? What are the practical steps companies must consider in order to comply with the new rules? How does a company prepare when they must establish internal guidelines to meet new regulations? This session is an opportunity for suppliers and distributors alike to share tips, tricks and tactics for compliance. This session qualifies as an "elective" under the Product Safety Aware Program.
Dana Porter, CAS
Dana joined SAGE in 2001 after graduating from the University of Texas at Dallas with a degree in business management. Dana started out as the Information Services Manager and was promoted to Director of Information Services in 2010. In addition to making sure SAGE is up to speed on everything to do with Prop 65, Dana enjoys being active in the industry. She currently serves on the Promotional Product Education Foundation (PPEF) Board of Trustees as the vice-chair of the fundraising committee and the Government Relations Action Council (GRAC). She has also participated in Legislative Education Action Day (LEAD) multiple years, has served as chair of the PPAI Women’s Leadership Conference, has been awarded the PPAI Volunteer of the Month Award and severed on several other committees over the years.
Chief Compliance Officer, PromoShop Inc.
Kim Bakalyar, PromoShop Inc’s Chief Compliance Officer, started work in the promotional products industry in 1980 on the distributor side and joined forces with PromoShop, Inc. in 2004 as director of supplier relations. Kim has worked in all aspects on the distributor side while focusing primarily on research, sourcing, vendor relations and product safety and responsibility. Kim is a past president of SAAC and has previously volunteered on the PPAI Promotional Apparel Advisory Council and PPAI Distributors Committee. She is a current member of the PPAI Product Responsibility Action Group (PRAG).
Vice President of Compliance, Hit Promotional Products, Inc.
Nathan Cotter is the vice president of compliance at Hit Promotional Products, Inc., ranked among the top 5 promotional product suppliers in the nation. The compliance team at Hit is comprised of 5 full-time members responsible for product safety, regulatory compliance, and social responsibility throughout a diverse supply chain. Nathan holds a BA from Monmouth College, is a member of PPAI’s Product Responsibility Action Group and also serves on the QCA Compliance Committee.
Senior Director of Compliance and Quality Assurance, Prime Line
Jill Rogoz is an 12-year industry veteran and the senior director of compliance and quality assurance at Prime Line, Hard Goods Division of alphabroder, and a Top 10 supplier in the promotional products industry. As senior director of compliance and quality assurance, she oversees the safety, compliance and quality assurance programs at multiple manufacturing facilities at Prime Line. Prime is a founding member of QCA and Jill is the team leader for Prime’s QCA program.
Tabatha Bauer is the Director of Logistics & Compliance for Staples Promotional Products, one of the largest distributors in the promotional products industry. She is responsible for managing a North American expanded team who oversee logistics operations, product safety, social responsibility, C-TPAT compliance, import and export trade compliance for both the US and Canada. Tabatha interacts with clients who are some of the most well-known brands in the world to learn of their unique compliance needs and implements those throughout the supply chain. Tabatha has been in the promotional products industry since 2000 and has worked both on the manufacturer and distributor sides of the business. She is on the Board of Directors for ICPHSO (International Consumer Product Health & Safety Organization), a member of PPAI PRAG (Product Responsibility Action Group) and the ICPA (International Compliance Professional Association).
Gene Geiger, MAS+
Gene Geiger, MAS+, is CEO of Geiger, a five-generation family business based in Maine. A graduate of Notre Dame, he has sat on the PPAI Board of Directors and has chaired PPAI's Product Responsibility Action Group. Geiger has been recognized by PPAI with its Distinguished Service Award, PPAI Volunteer of the Month and as a PPAI Fellow. He has served twice on the PPAI Board of Directors and has served in the roles of Vice Chair of Financial Services and Vice Chair of Technology. He has been an ardent champion of the industry’s product safety initiatives and served as both member and chair of the Product Responsibility Advisory Group. He has been heavily involved in the industry’s ecommerce standards. Currently he is co-chair of the annual PPAI Product Responsibility Summit.
