We live in a fast-changing world, and companies selling products globally are subject to ever-expanding regulations both at home and abroad. Staying abreast and assuring compliance is more challenging than ever for manufacturers and suppliers. This webinar will introduce you to chemical regulations mainly in the United States, but it also includes EU regulations. The content will start with an introduction to the types of chemicals regulated in promotional products, discuss U.S. federal and state law regulations including California Proposition 65 and some information about global chemical legislation in the EU market. Jennifer Barbarisi

Senior Regulatory and Product Compliance Consultant

Jennifer Barbarisi has been part of TÜV Rheinland’s North America Retail team since 2018 and within the product safety field since 2008. In her role, Jennifer supports North American-based retailers and major brands with compliance to national and international regulations covering categories such as toys, children’s products, juvenile products, textile/apparel and promotional products. As the North America Regulatory & Compliance manager, Jennifer provides technical support to help manage retailers’ compliance programs focusing on US federal and state regulations.

Jennifer works closely with TUV’s global laboratories on alignment and interpretation of US federal and state-level regulations. Part of her role includes ensuring that TUV Rheinland is up to date with consumer product US state regulations and global retail programs are updated accordingly. 

Jennifer participates on technical committees such as the ASTM subcommittee F15.22 on toy safety, ASTM F15.24 on jewelry, ASTM F15 juvenile product subcommittees, US TAG to ISO/TC 181 on Toy Safety, US TAG to ISO 310 on Child Care Articles, AAFA Product Safety Council and AAFA RSL Task Force. Jennifer completed Saint Louis University’s Advanced Product Safety Management course in September 2017.

Melanie Schubert

Senior Regulatory and Product Compliance Consultant

Melanie Schubert is a board-approved food chemist, who received her master's degree from a leading German University. She has been responsible for food contact material services at the TÜV Rheinland Shanghai lab for five years. In 2015, she joined the North America retail team as a regulatory and compliance manager for food contact articles and other chemical services.
